Makarska is situated on the Adriatic coast, about 60 km south of Split and 150 km north of Dubrovnik. Together with other nearby villages (Tucepi, Brela, Baska Voda, Podgora...) Makarska Riviera is the popular tourist destination. This beautiful city is noted for its long promenade, where are boutiques, cafés, bars, taverns, pizzerias, pastry shops and souvenir shops. The center is an old town with narrow stone-paved streets where is main church and local museum. There you can also buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Makarska is also noted because of its attractive pebble beaches, where you can hire out sun loungers and umbrellas.
